Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando da Cruz has bemoaned the lack of personality displayed by his troops in their 3-2 win over Siwelele FC in the Betway Premiership at Dosbonville Stadium over the weekend.

The Glamour Boys edged the Bloemfontein-based outfit with goals from Mfundo Vilakazi, Wandile Duba, and Faiz Abrahams, while Orlando Pirates loanee Aphiwe Baliti and newly signed striker Michel N'Guessan scored for the visitors.

While Amakhosi found the back of the net on three occasions, da Cruz feels his side could have scored more goals considering the amount of clear-cut scoring opportunities they created in the final third.

“In the first half we were very good in possession, we created a lot of chances but we are not clinical inside the box, but normally we need to come back in the dressing room with two or three goals more than the opponent,” said the Chiefs boss.

"We didn't play well at the start of the second half, we started to play long but we needed to continue playing as we played in the first half.

The Frenchman was unimpressed with the manner in which his charges conceded against Lehlohonolo Seema's men, stating that there's a lack of personality in his squad, amid persistent defensive frailties early in the season.

“And then we scored our second goal, but directly after Siwelele scored their first goal and we were worried after, and on the defensive part it was not good,” added da Cruz.

"We scored the third goal and they also scored their second goal after, but since the first goal of Siwelele we tried to be worried and afraid on the field. I can't explain it at the moment, but we have a lack of personality on the field.

"In conclusion, we deserved these three points if we look at the entire game, but our regret is that the opponent came two times in our box and scored two times - so they had a 100% of success.

Chiefs currently sit third on the Betway Premiership table with 11 points accumulated from the opening five matches of the 2026/27 campaign, and return to action with a visit to Polokwane City on Saturday.
