Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando da Cruz is not taking four-game winless Siwelele FC lightly ahead of their Betway Premiership clash at Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday evening.

The Bloemfontein-based outfit head into the encounter in search of their first win of the 2026/27 campaign, having settled for two draws and as many defeats in the first four matches, which has them sitting in 14th place on the log standings.

Amakhosi, meanwhile, are looking to snap a run of two consecutive draws as they currently sit fourth with eight points on the table after being leapfrogged by AmaZulu FC into third place.

With the match proving crucial for both teams, da Cruz is under no illusion about the threat posed by Lehlohonolo Seema's men, and anticipates a tough assignment in Dobsonville.

“We are very respectful of Siwelele because this championship is very hard, it's one of the best championships in Africa. So, we respect all our opponents, it will be a tough game,” said the Chiefs boss.

While the Frenchman is aware that securing maximum points at the expense of Siwelele won't be a walk in the park, he urged his troops to be ruthless in the final third and minimise defensive errors, with crucial points at stake.

"But I also want us to continue in our way in possession, we need to be more clinical in the final third, more percutant in the final third. We also need to correct our mistakes to be sure about staying in the top of the league.

Notably, Siwelele took four points off Chiefs in the previous campaign, settling for a goalless stalemate on the road before bagging the three points in the return fixture on home soil.
