With Gianni Infantino accused of promising Morocco the right to host the 2030 World Cup final, there is growing discontent in Spain.

In his bid to shore up support ahead of the upcoming FIFA presidential elections, Gianni Infantino is said to have pledged the 2030 World Cup final to Morocco. On Thursday, Luis Rubiales took aim at the head of world football's governing body.

In an interview with Marca, the former president of the Spanish Football Federation argued that the Swiss leader and Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez "have seriously damaged Spain's bid."

"Infantino and Pedro Sanchez have seriously damaged Spain's bid for the World Cup. If Spain loses the final, it cannot remain involved in organizing the tournament for even a minute longer," Rubiales declared. He remains convinced that Madrid was originally slated to host the tournament's final match. This latest broadside further highlights the growing isolation of the FIFA president.
