Four FIFA tournaments to follow at the end of 2026, a busy schedule for Africa
FIFA published a tweet reminding fans that four more tournaments are still to be played before the end of the year. From the Women’s U-17 World Cup to the new U-15 World Cup, along with the Men’s U-17 World Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, several African representatives will be involved.
Women’s U-17 World Cup
The Women’s U-17 World Cup will be held in Morocco from October 17 to November 7, 2026. The competition will bring together 24 national teams, including five from Africa: Morocco, the host nation, Nigeria, Ghana, Zambia and Kenya.
The Atlas Lionesses will play in Group A alongside New Zealand, Germany and Argentina. Nigeria will compete in Group B with North Korea, Puerto Rico and Poland.
Ghana will be in Group C with Brazil, Canada and Norway, while Zambia will play in Group D alongside France, Japan and Venezuela.
Finally, Kenya has been drawn in Group E with the United States, Samoa and China.

U-15 World Cup and Festival
FIFA will launch its brand-new U-15 World Cup and Festival this year. The first men’s edition will take place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from October 22 to 30, 2026, with nearly 1,000 matches played in an unprecedented eight-a-side format.
A major feature is that the competition is open to FIFA member associations, with 191 federations set to be represented.
It is therefore not a tournament with a limited number of continental places like the U-17 World Cups: the participating African teams are part of this broad global representation.
U-17 World Cup
Qatar will host the U-17 World Cup from November 19 to December 13, 2026. For the second consecutive year, the competition will feature 48 teams, with matches played primarily in the Aspire Zone in Al Rayyan, before the final is staged at Khalifa International Stadium.
Africa will be represented by ten national teams: Algeria, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Senegal, Tanzania and Uganda.
The draw placed Egypt in Group A with Qatar, Panama and Greece, Uganda in Group B alongside South Korea, New Caledonia and Ecuador, Mozambique in Group C with Argentina, Australia and Denmark, and Côte d’Ivoire in Group E with Italy, Jamaica and Uzbekistan.
Senegal will play in Group F with Croatia, Cuba and Tajikistan, Mali in Group G alongside New Zealand, Belgium and Vietnam, Morocco in Group H with Spain, China and Fiji, Tanzania in Group I with Brazil, Ireland and Costa Rica, Algeria in Group J with the United States, Montenegro and Chile, and finally Cameroon in Group K with Mexico, Romania and Venezuela.

The 2026 FIFA Intercontinental Cup
The 2026 FIFA Intercontinental Cup began on August 26 and will continue through to the final, which will be held in December 2026.
Africa is represented by Mamelodi Sundowns, the African champions, who eliminated Al-Ahli SC, the Asian champions, in the second round with a 2-1 victory.
The South African club has therefore qualified for the Challenger Cup and is now just one win away from a final against defending champions Paris Saint-Germain. Before that, they must beat the winner of the Derby of the Americas, scheduled for November 28 in Montevideo.
