France: Ligue 1 referee sentenced to 18 months in prison

Ligue 1 referee Abdelatif Kherradji was tried this Friday by the Nîmes Criminal Court on charges of domestic violence. The incidents date back to March and May 2026.

At the end of the proceedings, the public prosecutor requested an 18-month suspended prison sentence. This sentence comes with immediate effect and a mandatory therapy order, as reported by the French daily L’Équipe.

He was heard the previous week by the federal referees commission to give his version of events. Abdelatif Kherradji is currently under judicial supervision and on sick leave until August 18. The final court decision will be announced on August 19 at 9 a.m., when the court will deliver its verdict.
