France national team: Jules Koundé responds to Lamine Yamal

After the quarter-final victory against Belgium (2-1) in this 2026 World Cup, Lamine Yamal was the first to fire shots at the French team.

"We have beaten France in our last two meetings. If France should be afraid of anyone, it's us (...) We'll see what happens, but we're not afraid," he declared. These comments didn’t come as a surprise to Jules Koundé.

"At no point did we feel disrespected. I know Lamine very well, I know what he’s like. For me, it’s a sign of confidence—he always does it with Barça. He believes in his own qualities and those of his team. It gives him extra motivation," Koundé explained in the mixed zone, on the eve of the France-Spain showdown.
