Facing Côte d’Ivoire on Thursday night, Rayan Cherki opened the scoring for Les Bleus. But despite the defeat (1-2), the Manchester City player remains confident ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

At the end of the match, Rayan Cherki admitted that this loss was a wake-up call and that France will not be going into the World Cup as favorites.

"I can tell you, we won't be going to the World Cup as favorites. We'll go as if it’s the first and last time we play there. (…) We won't be favorites at the World Cup, we're going to crush everyone. I want to give everything for my teammates and for the country," he told TF1.
