France team: Zinédine Zidane turned down a bonus

This Tuesday, the whole world learned the salary of the France team’s new head coach, Zinédine Zidane.

Indeed, L'Equipe confirmed that Zinédine Zidane receives, like Didier Deschamps before him, a fixed gross salary of €300,000 per month. But unlike his predecessor, the former Real Madrid coach chose to waive an image-rights bonus that would have earned him around €44,000 per match. This decision notably allows him to avoid being subject to the obligations associated with sponsors linked to Les Bleus.

Zinédine Zidane has nevertheless found a way to make up for this loss. According to the sports daily, the former Real Madrid manager negotiated larger bonuses with the French Football Federation for strong performances in major international competitions (the World Cup and the Euros). He will therefore be able to receive substantial bonuses if Les Bleus go far in these tournaments.
