Yesterday, Lamine Yamal appeared at a press conference, where he spoke at length about the highly anticipated France-Spain showdown.

Lamine Yamal admitted he was about to play "the most important match" of his career. "I feel very calm, I'm going to meet up with my brother to get a haircut. And the match will be a beautiful one. It's a game everyone has been eagerly waiting for. Both teams will attack, defend. It will surely be a very balanced contest. No pressure. I play the way I know how. I'll never play better or worse than what I'm capable of. When you give everything and people know it, you don't feel any pressure." he said.

When a journalist reminded him that he'd only scored one goal at this 2026 World Cup, he replied: "Every tournament is different. It's not the coach's fault if I haven't scored five goals. That's part of the game and it doesn't worry me. When I was younger, I watched World Cups where Spain were knocked out. We're still here and that's what matters. I hope I can score tomorrow. (...) There are tougher situations than a football match. You have to stay calm. I know what I'm capable of, and I'm not worried in the slightest. (...) You say I'm not at my best, so you shouldn't expect anything from me. But I hope it's going to be a great day."
