Grady Diangana will not start the Liga season with Elche. The Congolese attacking midfielder is ruled out for the opening day of the Spanish championship, as his team faces Deportivo La Coruña this Sunday. Diangana picked up an injury during the final pre-season friendly against Toulouse and is therefore not included in the squad for this first official fixture.

The injury comes at the worst possible time for Diangana, who was expected to help kick off Elche’s campaign. Available reports indicate a muscle injury sustained during the friendly against Toulouse. Some sources have also mentioned a possible knee issue, but the exact nature and duration of his absence will need to be clarified by the club.

His absence is a setback for Elche, who are returning to Spain’s top flight and are keen to start strong. Against Deportivo La Coruña, the club will have to make do without one of its key attacking players.

Diangana will have to wait for his Liga debut

This setback also delays Diangana’s official debut in Elche’s colors in La Liga. The Congolese international was among the players expected to bolster Elche’s attacking line this season. His technical skills and ability to operate between the lines were seen as valuable assets for the team.

For Elche, the challenge now will be to manage this absence without jeopardizing their start to the season. As for Diangana, he'll need to focus on his recovery in order to rejoin his teammates quickly and finally launch his Spanish campaign.
