Manchester City 0 - 3 PSG: Paris humiliate the Cityzens in the first half
Paris overwhelmed Manchester City in the first half, with three goals scored by Désiré Doué, Ousmane Dembélé and Vitinha at the Etihad.
The reigning two-time European champions did not hold back. At Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain lead 3-0 at half-time after a one-sided first half in this clash on matchday two of the Champions League.
Watched by Pep Guardiola, City's former manager, the Parisians produced an impressive collective display against a Manchester side that was overwhelmed in every area.
Doué and Dembélé strike in quick succession
PSG opened the scoring in the 13th minute. Following a team move initiated by Achraf Hakimi, Maghnes Akliouche and Fabian Ruiz, the latter found Désiré Doué on the left with an outside-of-the-foot pass. The French winger cut inside before beating Gianluigi Donnarumma with a low, angled shot to make it 0-1.
Just two minutes later, Paris doubled their lead. This time, Doué picked out Ousmane Dembélé at the far post, and the French forward headed home to make it 0-2 in the 15th minute.
Vitinha completes the demonstration
Paris's dominance was further reflected in the 32nd minute. After a run down the right by Maghnes Akliouche, Warren Zaïre-Emery brilliantly flicked the ball on with his heel towards Vitinha. The Portuguese midfielder finished first time, beating Donnarumma at the near post to score Paris's third goal.
At half-time, the assessment is unequivocal: Manchester City trail 3-0 in their own stadium and have never really managed to halt the Parisian machine. Enzo Maresca's men will have to show a completely different face in the second half if they are to avoid an even more difficult evening against a PSG side in complete control.
