Manchester City: after Foden, two key players set to be tied down until 2031!

After securing Phil Foden, Manchester City is looking to extend the contracts of two more key figures in the new project led by Enzo Maresca.

Manchester City continues its sweeping campaign of locking down its stars. Following the official announcement of Phil Foden’s contract extension until 2030, the Manchester board has reportedly accelerated talks on two other major fronts.

According to The Athletic, Jérémy Doku and Abdukodir Khusanov are close to committing their futures to the club until June 2031. Negotiations are said to be at an advanced stage, although the English club has yet to make any official announcement regarding these extensions.

Two players who have become indispensable

Under contract until 2028, Doku is coming off an outstanding season. The Belgian winger made 47 appearances across all competitions in 2025-26, scoring eight goals and providing fourteen assists. His explosiveness, one-on-one ability, and improved finishing have made him a major weapon in City's attacking arsenal.

Khusanov, whose current deal runs until 2029, has also taken a big step forward. Since joining from RC Lens in January 2025, the Uzbek defender has featured in 47 matches during his first full season in Manchester. His pace and aggression in duels have earned him a prominent role in the defensive rotation.

These potential extensions are part of a clear strategy: to build a young core around Enzo Maresca. After tying down Foden, City now aims to secure two more players, aged 24 and 22 respectively, before the start of the Premier League season.
