Leaders after their emphatic opening win, PSG take on Manchester City at the Etihad with a squad bolstered by several important returns.

Paris Saint-Germain travel to Manchester City's home ground this Wednesday for the second matchday of the league phase of the Champions League. After their emphatic 6-1 victory over Slovan Bratislava in their opening match, the European champions will be looking to confirm their strong start at the Etihad Stadium against an opponent who also won on the opening matchday.

For this high-stakes trip, Luis Enrique has selected a squad of 23 players. Rested last weekend, Ousmane Dembélé and Nuno Mendes return to the squad. However, injured duo Alessandro Longoni and Senny Mayulu are not part of the travelling party.

The 23 players called up: Hakimi - Beraldo - Marquinhos - Zabarnyi - Kvaratskhelia - Fabian - Ferran - Dembélé - Akliouche - Digne - Doué - Vitinha - Lucas Hernandez - Godts - Nuno Mendes - Dro - Chevalier - Zaïre-Emery - Safonov - Ndjantou - Pacho - Mouak - João Neves.

PSG will therefore be able to rely on a large part of their key players for the first true European heavyweight clash of their campaign. The presence of Dembélé and Nuno Mendes in particular gives Luis Enrique more options ahead of facing a Manchester City side that remains one of the competition's heavyweights.

PSG came from behind to beat Manchester City in the last meeting

The last official meeting between the two clubs took place on 22 January 2025, during the league phase of the Champions League. At the Parc des Princes, Manchester City had taken a 2-0 lead through Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland before PSG mounted a spectacular comeback.

Ousmane Dembélé pulled one back, Bradley Barcola equalised, and João Neves then put PSG ahead before Gonçalo Ramos sealed the victory in stoppage time. Paris eventually won 4-2, in one of the most memorable European nights of their season.

Nearly two years later, the two teams meet again at the Etihad with the opportunity to take an early step towards the top of the table in this new league phase.
