Maurice Revello Tournament: Côte d'Ivoire defeats DR Congo to claim third place

After reaching the final in 2024, Côte d'Ivoire had to settle for the bronze medal. The Young Elephants secured third place in the 52nd edition of the Maurice Revello Tournament after a 3-1 victory over DR Congo.

The show was led by Oumar Konaté. The AS club striker bagged a brace in the 17th and 48th minutes to put the Ivorians in control. DR Congo pulled one back in the 75th minute thanks to an own goal by Emmanuel Kaku. In between, Ludovic Woula netted another own goal in the 55th minute to hand Côte d'Ivoire their third goal.

Côte d'Ivoire claimed the bronze medal after a strong campaign featuring 3 wins in 5 matches, 2 draws, and no defeats.

The tournament's best player came from the U23 Elephants. Sunderland midfielder Joslin Ta Bi shined with 4 goals and two Man of the Match awards.

DR Congo also delivered a solid performance, finishing second in Group A.

This tournament was a golden opportunity for both teams to showcase their talents on the international stage, serving as valuable preparation ahead of the U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
