Mercato: Gideon Mensah set to sign with FC Cologne

FC Cologne has secured its latest signing. The German club has reached a full agreement with Gideon Mensah, who is set to join the Effzeh as a free agent.

After agreeing on personal terms, both parties have finalized the deal. The 27-year-old Ghanaian international will sign a contract running until 2029, with his medical scheduled for this Friday.

Cologne beats out several suitors

As a free agent, the Black Stars' left-back attracted interest from several clubs, including FC Schalke 04, Coventry City, and a number of Turkish sides. Ultimately, Gideon Mensah has chosen to continue his career at 1. FC Köln, where his experience—particularly with the Ghanaian national team at the World Cup—should bolster the team's left flank.
