Lionel Messi has unveiled the special shirt he is expected to wear in his final match with the national Argentina team, scheduled for October 6, 2026, at the Monumental against Benin.

The Argentina captain shared a photo of the shirt on Instagram, accompanied by the message:

“Last match… A shirt for life.”

According to TyC Sports, the shirt was specially designed for this match, which is set to mark Messi’s farewell to the national team.

A different shirt for a special evening

The shirt retains Argentina’s traditional sky blue, but features a unique white vertical stripe in the center. The back also includes several distinctive elements: Messi’s name and number are inscribed in gold lettering, while the Sun of May appears in relief on the lower part.

This shirt will therefore not be the one usually worn by La Albiceleste. It was designed to accompany Messi’s announced final appearance in an Argentina shirt.

Messi expected to play only against Benin

Argentina are due to play three home matches during this international window. They will first face Bolivia on September 30 in Córdoba, then Burkina Faso on October 3 at the Monumental.

Three days later, the world champions will face Benin at the same stadium. According to the schedule presented by TyC Sports, it is in this final match that Messi is expected to make his last appearance for the national team.

The October 6 fixture will therefore hold particular significance for the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner, after more than 20 years with the Argentina national team.
