Morocco: Sofiane Boufal reignites his World Cup 2026 hopes

Back in form with Le Havre AC, Sofiane Boufal is once again becoming a talking point among the Atlas Lions just weeks ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

In a recent interview with Foot Mercato, Sofiane Boufal opened the door to a return: "As a professional footballer, we all aspire to play in the biggest international tournaments. Today, I’m playing in a competitive league. I’m lucky enough to string together matches without any injuries. So it’s only natural that people are talking about me for this World Cup."

With Le Havre, Boufal currently boasts 1 goal and 3 assists from 16 appearances. Thanks to his 46 caps, he remains one of the enduring symbols of Morocco’s historic 2022 World Cup run, where his technical partnership with Hakim Ziyech dazzled the footballing world. "I would be the happiest man alive if this World Cup comes my way," he added.
