Official: Ibrahim Diabaté leaves Sweden for Turkey
Ibrahim Diabaté is set to experience a new league. GAIS has officially announced the contract extension of their striker before his loan move to Erzurumspor, Turkey.
A departure finally confirmed
The situation was uncertain for a few hours. Erzurumspor initially announced the arrival of Ibrahim Diabaté before deleting their post, while GAIS denied that the deal had been finalized.
The two clubs have now reached an agreement. Diabaté joins Erzurumspor on loan until next summer, with a purchase option included in the deal. Before leaving, the 26-year-old striker extended his contract with GAIS through 2029. The Swedish club thus secures the future of their player before this new adventure.
After Sweden and Spain, Turkey
Last season, Ibrahim Diabaté had already gained international experience during a loan spell at Deportivo Alavés. The Ivorian striker featured in ten La Liga matches and scored twice. According to El Correo, Erzurumspor is expected to pay one million euros for the loan, with the purchase option set at 2.5 million euros.
Diabaté will now have the chance to establish himself in a new league and gain more consistency. His long-term future could depend on his performances during this season in Turkey.
