Official: Nassim Akrour hangs up his boots at 51

Former Algerian international Nassim Akrour has officially retired from professional football.

Nassim Akrour has decided to hang up his boots after lighting up the scoreboards from Ligue 1 down to Regional 1 for more than three decades. The Algerian striker started his career in 1995 with Olympique Noisy-le-Sec. He then moved to England, featuring for Sutton United and Woking FC. That English stint was followed by spells at Istres, Troyes, Grenoble, a return to Istres, another return to Grenoble, Annecy, and finally Chambéry between 2020 and 2025.

Wearing the colors of the Algerian Fennecs from 2001 to 2004, Nassim Akrour earned 18 caps and scored 4 goals for his national side, including appearances at the Africa Cup of Nations in 2002 and 2004. Over his career, he played in 780 matches and found the net 284 times, spending the majority of his professional life in Ligue 2 and National 2.

Nassim Akrour is the all-time top scorer for three clubs: Grenoble (110 goals), FC Istres (73 goals), and FC Annecy (38 goals).
