A decisive victory in Manchester
Hakimi started and played the full 90 minutes at the Etihad Stadium, contributing significantly to Paris Saint Germain's dynamic attacking transitions.
The French champions secured a thrilling Matchday 2 win against Manchester City thanks to a dominant first half display.
Goals from Désiré Doué, Ousmane Dembélé, and Vitinha gave the visitors a comfortable lead, before Maghnes Akliouche sealed the 4-2 result in the second half.
Overtaking a Cameroonian legend
Beyond the vital three points, the match carried special historical significance for the Moroccan defender. Hakimi's start against the Premier League champions marked his 79th career appearance in Europe's elite club competition.
This milestone officially moves him past former Barcelona and Inter Milan striker Samuel Eto'o who recorded 78 Champions League appearances during his illustrious career.
Closing in on the elite
At just 27 year old, the Achraf Hakimi now trails only two African football icons in the all time Champions League appearance rankings.
Egyptian star Mohamed Salah currently holds the outright African record with 98 appearance while former Chelsea and Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba occupies second place with 92 appearances.
