Portugal: Jorge Jesus dodges questions about Cristiano Ronaldo after victory over Denmark
Portugal beat Denmark 4-2, but Jorge Jesus's post-match press conference was dominated by questions about Cristiano Ronaldo and his departure from the camp.
Asked about the Portuguese striker's situation, Jorge Jesus quickly steered the discussion back to his team's performance.
“The Portuguese national team put on a world-class performance today, right?” the manager said, before adding: “That is the most important thing to me right now.”
The Portuguese coach also insisted that recent events had not affected his squad. “The things that happened recently have not separated the group. And they will not separate us,” he said.

Jorge Jesus insists he has control of his squad
Asked about his authority in the dressing room, Jorge Jesus explained that he could rely on players who embraced his ideas.
“I have a group that believes in my ideas, and so things become easier. If you consider that having control over the group, then yes, I have control over it,” he replied.
The Portuguese manager also indicated that the questions surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo would not disrupt his preparations.
“It will not be difficult for me to focus on the match; what would be difficult would be not knowing how to coach my players. The rest, zero,” he said.
Jorge Jesus finally indicated that he would address the Cristiano Ronaldo issue after the next match against Porto. For now, he preferred to focus on Portugal's 4-2 victory and his squad's performance.
