Portugal beat Norway 2-1 last night in a match marked by an incident in the final seconds.

Having come on in the 87th minute, Bernardo Silva found himself at the centre of a confrontation with Martin Ødegaard following a late challenge on the Norwegian captain. After being caught on the ankle, the Arsenal player immediately reacted. He was visibly annoyed, while several of his teammates also reproached the Portuguese player for the challenge.

A few minutes after the final whistle, Ødegaard did not mince his words in condemning Bernardo Silva's challenge. “I don't know what he's doing. That kind of behaviour has no place on a football pitch. It's shameful that people behave like that,” the Norwegian captain said.

For his part, Bernardo Silva was much more brief when discussing the incident: “It's football, mate…”
