Signed this summer for 25 million euros from Levante, Spanish forward Carlos Espi has been showered with praise by José Mourinho.

On Saturday night at Espanyol Barcelona's stadium, Carlos Espi rescued Real Madrid by netting the match-winning goal. His decisive strike came in the dying moments of the game. In the post-match press conference, Merengue manager José Mourinho heaped praise on the young Spanish talent.

"He's a really endearing kid. Right now, we're living together in Valdebebas—we have breakfast together, lunch together, dinner together: me, my staff, him, and Cucurella. Sunday is his official presentation—can you imagine? He's living a dream. But he doesn't act like someone with his head in the clouds; he works incredibly hard. He has everything you need to be a great scorer, he's an excellent player. We need someone like him in these kinds of matches. (...) He's a pure striker, very tactically astute, and he's always dreamed of playing for Real. That's exactly the mentality I expect from my players," declared the Special One.
