Real Madrid: Kylian Mbappé already sends a message to José Mourinho

Real Madrid is set to unite Kylian Mbappé and José Mourinho, two monumental figures at the heart of the new Merengue project.

After a historic 2026 World Cup—where he finished with 10 goals and set an all-time record of 22 goals in World Cup history—Kylian Mbappé returned to Madrid on Monday night. Captured on arrival by El Chiringuito, the French striker responded "yes, yes" when a journalist asked if he was looking forward to seeing José Mourinho again. The Frenchman is expected to enjoy a few days of vacation before preseason kicks off.

Mbappé is coming off a remarkable season with Real Madrid. According to the club's official statistics, he scored 42 goals in 44 matches across all competitions: 25 in La Liga, 15 in the Champions League, and two in the Copa del Rey. He finished as the top scorer in both the Spanish league and the Champions League.

Returning to the Madrid dugout, Mourinho previously managed Real from 2010 to 2013. His first tenure ended with 128 wins in 178 matches, one La Liga title, a Copa del Rey, and a Spanish Super Cup. His side famously clinched the 2011–2012 league title with 100 points and 121 goals scored.
