Spain delivered a resounding victory over Saudi Arabia (4-0) this Sunday, on Matchday 2 in Group H of the 2026 World Cup. At the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, La Roja put on a high-level performance that bolsters their ambitions in the tournament and brings them a big step closer to qualifying for the round of 32.

Under Luis de la Fuente, Spain wasted no time taking control thanks to Lamine Yamal. The young Spanish prodigy opened the scoring in the 10th minute, netting his first-ever goal in a World Cup finals.

Spain then upped the pressure through Mikel Oyarzabal. The Spanish forward found the back of the net in the 21st minute and struck again just three minutes later (24’), sending La Roja into the break with a commanding three-goal lead.

After halftime, the Spaniards sealed the deal for good. In the 49th minute, a strike from Marc Cucurella deflected off Hassan Tambakti into his own net, pushing the score to 4-0.

Thanks to this emphatic win, Spain now sit alone at the top of Group H with four points. Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, drop to third place with just one point.
