Senegal: Sadio Mané reportedly announces end of international career

Senegalese football legend Sadio Mané has officially announced the end of his international career with the Lions of Teranga, following the 2026 World Cup.

At 34, the former Liverpool striker is closing the international chapter of his career for good. In a statement relayed by the Senegalese press, he confirmed he is ending his journey with the Lions of Teranga, just weeks after being eliminated in the round of 32 at the American World Cup.

In his message, the forward warmly thanked the Senegalese people for their unwavering support, while apologizing for the moments of disappointment they experienced together.

"I sacrificed everything for this flag. I gave my very best and always fought fiercely for our homeland," he emphasized.

However, as this chapter closes, the next one is already in sight. Sadio Mané stated he is ready to continue serving Senegalese football, whether from the technical bench or within the governing bodies.
