On Tuesday evening, Spain defeated Croatia in the Nations League. The victory brings the number of matches unbeaten by the reigning world champions to 40.

By beating Croatia (4-1) last night in the Nations League, Spain extended its unbeaten run to 40 consecutive matches. This is a record for a national team. Spain have not lost since a friendly against Colombia (0-1) in March 2024.

During this impressive run, Luis de la Fuente's men won Euro 2024 and the 2026 World Cup. The Nations League final lost to Portugal on penalties does not interrupt this run, as it is officially recorded as a draw.

Slaven Bilic blasts his players

Speaking to the press after the defeat to Spain, Croatia head coach Slaven Bilic did not seek to downplay his team's performance. “It’s a difficult night for us. We played badly in every aspect, and we are disappointed. The result and the feeling are bad. We can make excuses, say that Spain are world champions, that we are playing with many new players… But we cannot be so lacking in aggression. We played as if we had simply come to watch their World Cup celebration,” he said.
