The 2026 Africa U17 Cup of Nations delivered its verdict on Tuesday night in Rabat, Morocco, wrapping up an edition played from May 13 to June 2.

The Teranga Lion Cubs were crowned African champions for the second time in their history at this level after defeating Tanzania in the final at the Hassan Stadium in Rabat.

The match actually started in the best possible way for the Tanzanians, who took the lead as early as the 7th minute thanks to Hames Mihambo. But Senegal showed real character to get back into the game, with Ibrahima Dione equalising in the 64th minute.

With the two sides still deadlocked at the end of regulation time, the shootout ultimately went Senegal's way (4-2).

Despite a remarkable campaign and their feat against Egypt in the semi-finals, the U17 Taifa Stars fell short in their quest for a first continental crown.
