The Swiss Football Association withdraws its support for Gianni Infantino!

The Swiss association's central committee announced the change in an official statement, making clear that it will no longer support Infantino in the upcoming FIFA presidential election.

The move is particularly notable given Switzerland's status as the home of FIFA's headquarters. It also signals growing concerns within the organization over Infantino's leadership style and approach to the governance of international football.

By breaking with its previous position, the Swiss Football Association has placed itself in direct opposition to the FIFA president at a politically sensitive moment, potentially adding further pressure to his campaign for another term.

The Swiss Football Association explained that the decision came "after a comprehensive reassessment of the developments witnessed over the past few months," adding: "From our perspective, several events raise fundamental questions about leadership, governance, transparency, and decision-making processes within FIFA."

The statement specifically pointed to "issues related to the clarity of rules and the integrity of competitions in the Balogun case," referring to the incident in which Infantino overturned the sending-off of the American player before the round-of-16 match during the last World Cup — a step that sparked widespread controversy over the president's interference in technical decisions.
