Paul Onuachu experienced a mixed evening on Thursday, October 15, 2026, in the Conference League with Trabzonspor. Scoring in the 3rd minute against KuPS Kuopio, the Nigerian forward left the pitch in the 10th minute because of an injury. This new incident comes after a previous muscle problem that kept him out of action in September.

Paul Onuachu had already been forced to leave his teammates on September 6, during Trabzonspor's 5-0 victory over Gençlerbirliği. The centre-forward had scored twice before coming off in the 43rd minute. Player-tracking data then indicated a muscle injury, with his return expected in mid-September.

The Nigerian subsequently returned to action. On September 12, he played the entire match against Konyaspor, before coming on against Galatasaray on September 19 and Samsunspor on October 10. He therefore featured in three matches before regaining a starting place in European competition against KuPS Kuopio.

In Finland, Onuachu quickly made his mark. Set up by Mohamed Salah, he opened the scoring in the 3rd minute. But his evening ended seven minutes later, forcing his coach to make an early substitution.

Thomas Reis hopes for a quick return

After the match, Trabzonspor coach Thomas Reis expressed his regret over his striker's injury. He notably highlighted his player's commitment in training and hoped to have him back in the squad soon.

“I hope it will not last too long and that he will be back with us soon,” said the German coach, according to beIN SPORTS Türkiye.

As of the morning of Friday, October 16, the exact nature of this new injury and the length of Paul Onuachu's potential absence remain unknown. Trabzonspor has not yet issued an official medical diagnosis. It is therefore impossible at this stage to determine whether this is another muscle injury or a different problem.
