"We are ready!" Riyad Yamhzar energizes his team before the World Cup!
For Riyad Mahrez, nothing matters more than making Algeria proud and leaving everything on the grass. When asked about facing Argentina in the group-stage opener on 17 June, the Algerian winger insisted that every fixture will carry equal weight in their push to advance beyond the first round.
“I don’t know if people expect a lot from us. We’re here to leave our mark, to make our families and our homeland proud. That’s what counts most for us. The first game against Argentina? It’s going to be a big one, but we’re approaching it like any other. We’re also thinking about the other matches. We’ll see what happens, but we’re prepared.”
Algeria have been drawn in Group J at the World Cup, which begins on 11 June, alongside Argentina, Jordan, and Austria.
