Qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations will begin this week, with 48 national teams divided into 12 groups entering the competition.

AFCON 2027 will be hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, marking the first time in the competition’s history that three countries will host the tournament. The first two rounds of qualifying will take place from September 24 to October 6.

Several fixtures stand out on the opening matchday, notably Morocco against Gabon, Egypt against Angola and the clash between Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana.

The Egypt captain will be involved with the “Pharaohs” against Angola and South Sudan, with an opportunity to improve his tally.

Behind him, Victor Osimhen is second with 17 goals in 16 matches. Sadio Mané, Vincent Aboubakar and Knowledge Musona complete the podium with 15 goals each.
