World Cup 2026: Ancelotti fires back at journalist after Ivory Coast vs Norway match
Carlo Ancelotti swiftly ended an exchange with a Norwegian journalist after Brazil qualified over Japan with a 2-1 win on Monday in the World Cup Round of 16. The Seleção coach refused to discuss Norway as long as the Elephants had yet to play their match.
The Norwegian journalist asked the Brazilian coach: “In the next round, we might face you. Are you ready?” Ancelotti responded sharply: “I like the football Norway plays, but I don’t want to disrespect Ivory Coast.”
The former Real Madrid boss preferred to keep his cards close to his chest: “I’d rather comment after your match is over.” The message was clear: the Round of 16 clash between Norway and Ivory Coast is the main event for now.
Norway, led by Haaland, faces Ivory Coast on Tuesday, 30 June at 17:00 GMT in Arlington. The winner will take on Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil in the Round of 16.
