World Cup 2026: Cher Ndour shows support for Senegal

Called up by Italy for this international break, Cher Ndour has spoken about his deep connection to both his roots as the 2026 World Cup approaches.

Italy will once again miss out on the World Cup—for the third consecutive edition. Cher Ndour, the former Senegalese midfielder, has said he will be cheering for Senegal during the tournament, despite his career having been built primarily in Italy.

"My mother is Italian, my father is Senegalese, but he has lived in Italy for almost 30 years. So my culture is almost entirely Italian. However, I also have strong ties to Senegal, since I have family there and I often visit on holiday. I will be supporting Senegal at the World Cup, since unfortunately Italy won't be there," he revealed.
