England's qualification against Mexico (3-2) was overshadowed by an injury to Jordan Henderson. The 36-year-old midfielder suffered an unusual accident after the final whistle.
According to initial reports, the former Liverpool captain injured his wrist after falling onto advertising boards while celebrating with his teammates. The medical staff quickly attended to him, and he was stretchered off the pitch before being taken to the hospital.
Head coach Thomas Tuchel confirmed that the injury was serious, but did not provide further details about Henderson's condition. Having played little since the start of the tournament, Jordan Henderson is now a major doubt for the quarter-final against Norway, scheduled for July 11.
