Morocco kicks off the quarter-finals of the World Cup with a tightly-contested clash against France. The action gets underway this Thursday evening at 8pm GMT on the pitch in Boston.

This marks only the second quarter-final in Morocco's history at the tournament. The Atlas Lions previously reached this stage on December 10, 2022, in Qatar, when they stunned Portugal (1-0) thanks to a decisive goal from Youssef En-Nesyri (42’).

Morocco's run ended in the semi-finals after a 2-0 defeat to France. Walid Regragui's men ultimately finished fourth, losing the third-place playoff to Croatia (2-1).

Facing Les Bleus, the Moroccans now have a golden opportunity to reach the final four for a second time and keep their dream of lifting the trophy alive. No African side has ever managed this feat before.

To reach the quarter-finals, Morocco finished second in Group C after holding Brazil to a 1-1 draw and defeating Scotland (1-0) and Haiti (4-2). Achraf Hakimi and his teammates then knocked out the Netherlands (1-1, 3-2 on penalties) and Canada (3-0).
