An unusual incident disrupted South Korea's preparations for the 2026 World Cup. An unauthorized drone was detected and then neutralized in the immediate vicinity of their training camp, located in Mexico.

Local security forces responded swiftly after spotting the device in a restricted area around the training facility. The incident occurred on the eve of a crucial match against Mexico, one of the tournament's host nations. South Korea's head coach, Hong Myung-bo, confirmed the report, describing it as a "regrettable" moment, but said it had no direct impact on his team's preparations.

The players are said to have spotted the drone before the start of their tactical session. Mexican authorities report that several drones have recently been detected and intercepted around sensitive World Cup sites, particularly in host cities. So far, there is no evidence pointing to any attempted sporting espionage.
