By reaching the quarter-finals of the World Cup, Morocco has secured a hefty prize of over $31.5 million, according to our colleagues at le360Sport.

This amount will be paid by FIFA to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, as part of an edition marked by a record-breaking prize pool of $871 million, the same source reports.

By making it to the quarter-finals, Morocco has pocketed $19 million for reaching this stage of the competition. Add to that $12.5 million ($10 million as a qualification bonus and $2.5 million for preparation), bringing the total to $31.5 million.

If they advance to the semi-finals, the bonus rises to $25 million. The winner will take home $50 million, the unlucky runner-up $33 million, the third-place team $29 million, and the fourth $27 million.

For comparison, the winner of the Africa Cup of Nations receives $10 million—just a third of what Morocco has already earned here—highlighting just how crucial a deep run in the global football showcase is, not only in sporting terms but also financially.
