World Cup 2026 / Tunisia 1 - 3 Netherlands: the Oranje show no mercy to the Eagles
In their final group match, the Netherlands outclassed a helpless Tunisia (3-1). The Oranje finish top of Group F, while the Carthage Eagles head home without a single point.
The Netherlands wrapped up their group stage in style against a Tunisian side lacking answers. From the opening minutes in Kansas City, the Oranje stunned the Carthage Eagles with an own goal from Ellyes Skhiri (3’), immediately followed by a clinical finish from Brian Brobbey (7’). With a 2-0 lead at halftime, the outcome was all but sealed.
Tunisia did attempt a response in the second half, with Hazem Mastouri (54’) offering a brief glimmer of hope to their fans. However, Jan Paul van Hecke definitively sealed the Dutch victory with a pinpoint header in the 62nd minute, making it 3-1.
As a result, the two teams finish at opposite ends of Group F. The Netherlands top the group and cruise into the Round of 32. Tunisia, meanwhile, finish last with zero points, bowing out of this World Cup in anguish after a disastrous campaign.
