Yan Diomandé appeared at the press conference on the eve of the World Cup warm-up friendly between Côte d'Ivoire and France in Nantes this June 4. The RB Leipzig winger took a realistic look at his meteoric rise.

In his debut season at the highest level in Germany, Diomandé stole the spotlight with his numbers. He featured in 36 matches, netting 13 goals and providing 9 assists. He said, “This year has been incredible for me. I’m grateful for everything that’s happening and I’ll keep giving my best on the pitch.”

International ambition

After being called up to represent Côte d'Ivoire, the forward is well aware of how far he’s come since his early days. “It’s a dream. Representing my country is something truly special. Playing in the Africa Cup of Nations was already a huge achievement for me, but being at the World Cup is a whole different level.”

The 19-year-old is determined to keep developing. And against Les Bleus tonight, he’ll have the perfect stage to showcase his exceptional talent.
