Group C of the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations Morocco enters its final round this Wednesday, August 5, at 20:00 GMT. Malawi face Zambia at the City Stadium in Rabat, while Nigeria take on Egypt at the Olympic Stadium.

Malawi vs Zambia: Neighbors clash for the top spot

This is a historic first-ever Women's Africa Cup of Nations meeting between these southern African neighbors at the City Stadium. However, in their last five COSAFA encounters, Zambia hold the edge with three wins to Malawi’s two.

Malawi stunned everyone by toppling Nigeria 3-2 in the opening round, then overpowered Egypt 3-1. A win or draw will send "the Flames" straight to the quarter-finals as group leaders. They could even advance with a loss if Nigeria fail to beat Egypt.

If Malawi lose and Nigeria win, all three teams will be tied on six points, and head-to-head results will decide who advances. If Malawi make it through, they’ll become the first tournament debutants to reach the knockout stage since Botswana in 2022.

Zambia demolished Egypt 6-0 in their opener but stumbled 0-1 against Nigeria. They need a win to snatch the group lead.

Nigeria vs Egypt: Super Falcons look to finish the job

At the Olympic Stadium, Nigeria have three points and face an Egypt side already officially eliminated. The Super Falcons got off to a rocky start, losing 2-3 to Malawi but bounced back with a 1-0 victory over Zambia.

Egypt, meanwhile, bowed out after two rounds: a 0-6 thrashing by Zambia followed by a 1-3 defeat to Malawi. They’ll need a miracle to finish their campaign with pride.

History favors Nigeria. Their only previous AFCON meeting was in 1998, ending in a 6-0 win for the Super Falcons. Against North African opposition, Nigeria are unbeaten in regulation time over nine matches (six wins, three draws). Their only elimination came on penalties to Morocco in 2022.
