2026 World Cup: Brazil reclaims historic record from Germany

Brazil has reclaimed its place at the top of a historic World Cup leaderboard, once again surpassing Germany thanks to an attacking display against Haiti.

Brazil has regained the lead in a historic World Cup ranking. Indeed, with goals scored by Matheus Cunha against Haiti, the Seleção has become the most prolific nation in the history of the tournament, overtaking their great German rivals.

According to figures reported by Globo, the Brazilians now have 241 World Cup goals, compared to Germany’s 239. The Mannschaft had briefly taken the lead earlier with their emphatic 7-1 victory over Curaçao just a few hours before.

However, this statistical battle between two giants of world football is far from over. Meanwhile, Argentina (155 goals), France (139), and Italy (128) round out this prestigious leaderboard, but still remain a fair distance behind the leading duo.
