2026 World Cup: cooling breaks, Didier Deschamps' take

The head coach of the French national team, Didier Deschamps, discussed the topic of cooling breaks throughout the matches of this 2026 World Cup.

At the pre-match press conference ahead of the clash with Senegal, Didier Deschamps was questioned about the value of cooling breaks. These breaks occur twice during the match.

"During cooling breaks, it gives us the chance to tweak certain things with the players for three minutes. It gives us two extra timeouts. It also interrupts the halves, so you have to adapt. We introduced this during our warm-up matches. It's like having four quarters. We’re adapting," explained the French coach.
