DR Congo held on to hope for a historic spot in the Round of 16 at this 2026 World Cup. But Harry Kane dashed their dreams.

The Leopards were overturned by Harry Kane and England (2-1) this Wednesday in Atlanta in the Round of 32. It’s a massive disappointment, but also a learning experience for the future, according to Sébastien Desabre.

"We're disappointed because we believed in it. I think we played a good match, but in the end, we conceded two chances to one of the best players in the world (Harry Kane), who scored both goals. It's a shame. In any case, today is the time to congratulate the players for what they've shown. They've gained a lot of experience in this competition and by playing against teams like that. That's how Congolese football is built. Maybe we lacked a bit of experience at the end, but that's football. We learn, we keep progressing, and we continue our journey calmly," explained the coach.
