Forced off through injury during the win over Morocco, Kylian Mbappé is dealing with an ankle issue just days before the 2026 World Cup semi-final.

France booked their spot in the next round without breaking a sweat against a disappointing Morocco, but the team now faces a major concern over their captain. After opening the scoring, Kylian Mbappé was forced to leave the pitch with 15 minutes left, suffering an ankle knock and making way for Jean-Philippe Mateta.

However, the striker tried to reassure fans after the match, explaining that he had simply taken a knock and thought it best to come off as a precaution. Manu Koné, who also picked up a knee injury, was similarly forced off early, replaced by Warren Zaïre-Emery, who made his first appearance of this World Cup.

Still, caution is the watchword for the French staff ahead of the July 14 semi-final. The initial tests appear promising, but with the joint already weakened in the past, Mbappé’s ankle will be closely monitored over the next few days.
