Hours after the final of this 2026 World Cup, lost to Spain (1-0 aet), Lionel Messi posted a message on Instagram.

The Argentine captain shared both his disappointment and gratitude toward the Argentine people. "The pain is immense and it will take time for this wound to heal. But I also take away all the positives... The games we turned around by giving everything will remain etched in our memories. The support of an entire nation, combined with the work and effort of this group, allowed us, once again, to be among the best teams in the world." wrote the Albiceleste's captain.
