This 2026 World Cup is being seriously disrupted by weather conditions.

In Philadelphia, a violent thunderstorm caused a delay in the opening of stadium gates ahead of France vs Iraq. With lightning and heavy rain threatening, the authorities and FIFA enforced a safety protocol. This delayed supporter access and threw travel plans around the stadium into disarray.

The situation is also being closely monitored in New York, where Norway vs Senegal will take place overnight from Monday to Tuesday. While weather alerts are in place and organizers remain vigilant, the risk there is currently considered lower than in Philadelphia.
