The CAF Referees Committee has selected Peter Waweru to officiate the Group B match in the first round of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers between Egypt and Angola

The match is scheduled for Friday, September 25, 2026. Egypt will begin its 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign at home against Angola at Cairo International Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 10:00 p.m. Cairo time in front of 40,000 supporters.

An experienced referee

At 44, Peter Waweru is a well-known figure on the African continent. He has officiated major African matches involving national teams and clubs since 2017. Waweru will therefore be responsible for this highly important fixture, in which both national teams are beginning their qualifying campaigns for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
