Cameroon and the Central African Republic played out a draw on matchday two of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Trailing at half-time, the Indomitable Lions equalised thanks to an own goal by the Congolese goalkeeper.

Congo come close

The Red Devils took the lead in the 24th minute through Geltany Bantsiele, who finished off a fine team move and a decisive pass from Ivan Kia Dimi. Behind closed doors, Claude Le Roy’s men, beaten 0-1 by Namibia on matchday one, believed they had pulled off a home upset.

Cameroon refuse to lose

The Indomitable Lions refused to lose. They pushed forward after the break and were rewarded with an own goal from Melvin Zinga. After their 3-1 victory over Comoros, David Pagou’s men avoided the Congolese trap. In the standings, Cameroon nevertheless remain top of Group G with four points, one ahead of Namibia and Comoros, who beat Namibia 1-0 earlier in the day.
