Congo will host Cameroon this Tuesday, September 29, at the Alphonse-Massamba-Débat Stadium in Brazzaville, without supporters in the stands. The match, which counts towards the second round of the 2027 AFCON qualifiers, will be played behind closed doors due to CAF’s concerns about the stadium’s compliance.

An inspection of the venue identified several shortcomings, particularly regarding security conditions and the reception of spectators. The Congolese authorities have undertaken work to meet the requirements of the Confederation of African Football.

The Congolese Football Federation had hoped to resolve these issues in time to allow supporters to attend. The measures taken ultimately did not make it possible to open the stands for this match.

The Red Devils denied the support of their fans

Congo will therefore have to face Cameroon in an empty stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. local time at the Alphonse-Massamba-Débat Stadium. After the opening round of matches, the two teams come into the game with different results. Cameroon defeated Comoros (3-1), while Congo were beaten by Namibia (0-1).
